IBL Origins Paves the Way for India's Next Generation of Basketball Talent

Team White and Team Red set to clash in the final on August 22, as the talent development tournament nears its conclusion ahead of the inaugural IBL season

The India Basketball League (IBL) continues its mission to identify and develop the country's top basketball talent through IBL Origins, a first-of-its-kind talent development tournament designed to create a pathway for players into IBL – India’s first professional basketball league.

Held at the IBL High-Performance Centre (HPC) in Bengaluru, IBL Origins has brought together promising athletes in a high-intensity environment focused on elite training, competition, and player development ahead of the inaugural IBL season. Since kicking off on July 11, the IBL Origins tournament has featured five men's teams and four women's teams competing for a total prize pool of more than ₹50 lakh, reinforcing IBL's commitment to fostering meaningful competition.

Following a closely contested round of playoff matches, Team White and Team Red have advanced to the tournament final set to take place on August 22.

Jake Lush McCrum, CEO, India Basketball League, said, "IBL Origins was created to provide talented Indian players with a platform to develop, compete, and take the next step in their basketball journey. The level of commitment, skill, and growth we have witnessed throughout the tournament has been extremely exciting and reflects the talent that exists within Indian basketball."
