IBL Origins Concludes with a Landmark Finale, Delivers on Its Mission to Discover and Develop India's Next Basketball Stars

Team Red crowned IBL Origins Champions after a fiercely contested tournament that showcased the depth and intensity of India’s emerging basketball talent

The inaugural edition of IBL Origins, the India Basketball League's (IBL) talent identification and development tournament, culminated in a thrilling championship showdown at the IBL High-Performance Centre (HPC), Bengaluru, with Team Red emerging victorious over Team White to claim the first-ever IBL Origins title. The final turned out to be a nail-biting encounter, with Team Red edging out Team White 81-79 in overtime

Over the past month, IBL Origins brought together five men’s and four women’s teams featuring some of India’s most talented basketball players, in a high-intensity competitive environment ahead of IBL Season 1. Beyond the tournament, players benefited from focused training that builds on the year-round development they already receive at the HPC. The competition featured a combined prize pool of over ₹50 lakh, with performances closely monitored by IBL coaches, technical staff, and league officials throughout.

The IBL High-Performance Centre served as the cornerstone of the programme, giving players access to a professional training environment on par with leading basketball leagues worldwide - structured coaching, strength and conditioning, performance analysis, and sports science support, alongside consistent competitive play. In doing so, HPC and IBL Origins have reinforced player development as a core focus area for IBL, with athletes well positioned for opportunities as they prepare for the much-anticipated IBL Season 1.

Karan Singh, Owner & Managing Director, ACG Sports, said: "IBL Origins has been a significant milestone in our mission to elevate basketball in India. Over the course of the tournament, we have seen the tremendous talent that exists across the country come to life on court, and it’s a testament to what’s possible when athletes are given access to world-class coaching, facilities, and opportunities. Congratulations to our champions, the finalists, every athlete and coaching staff who has been part of this journey — they have helped lay the foundation for the future of Indian basketball."

Jake Lush McCrum, CEO, India Basketball League, said: “What a tournament this has been with an absolute rollercoaster of a finale that put the sheer depth of basketball talent in India on full display! The players have been outstanding, the fans brought incredible energy and watching it all come together at our High-Performance Centre has been nothing short of special. This is just the beginning. I cannot wait for the journey ahead as we build towards IBL Season 1 in early 2027.”

The conclusion of IBL Origins marks another important step in the lead-up to India Basketball League Season 1, offering a first glimpse of the athletes who will become future stars of the league.
